Spencer’s Gift

A dramatic and truthful reenactment of the circumstances surrounding the murder of Spencer MacLeod in 2002.

Produced September 2010 by One Way Pictures and Victory Chapel

A word from Spencer’s mother, Robin:

On January 26 2002 my life changed forever. My son Spencer Macleod was brought into the ER where I was working as a nurse barely clinging to life from a stab wound to the heart. He was pronounced dead fifteen minutes later. It was then that I discovered his identity. He died coming to the rescue of a friend who was being attacked. My heart was shattered beyond description.  And then began a long journey of darkness and pain on a road that was unknown and unpredictable.

But because I had been a Christian for fourteen years prior to this time and had a relationship with Jesus Christ, I made two decisions at the beginning of this journey that would allow God to move in some very powerful ways through this horrific tragedy. The first was to forgive; the men who murdered my son and a young man named Jermaine who had been with Spencer that night and blamed his own actions for my son’s death. The second decision I made was to trust God and let Him be my “all in all”, my “confidence” no matter how things looked or how things felt. Forgiveness and faith. I did not even realize then how much these two things touch God’s heart.

I’ve had the privilege of watching God bring forth incredible fruitfulness through Spencer’s testimony. If you knew my son, despite his failings, you knew that he had a heart for souls, that he was a man of prayer, specifically for those, like him, who were once without hope. He’d say, “Who will pray for them if I don’t?”

It will be my greatest joy one day to rejoice with Spencer in God’s presence and with all those who came to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ through his life and death or through the witness of those who told this story. Praise our loving and awesome God who truly is a redeemer of all things when we let Him have His way in our lives!
