CHARACTER MATTERS

CHARACTER MATTERS

It is a big days when all your favorite fairy tale characters come to church – and this they did on  Thursday & Friday, August 30 & 31st at Victory Chapel.  For six weeks the 5-12 year old children from children’s church practiced diligently every Wednesday evening during church under the direction of Matt Levesque and Maureen Piccione.  The result was an absolutely charming production, with Jack being reconciled with the Giant, and the littlest Bear forgiving Goldilocks, to recount a few of the amazing events.

As a lead up to the play, a Family Fun Day was planned in a Dennis park with free hotdogs and fun activities.  Children and their parents handed out fliers for the Fun Day and Play in the housing developments adjacent to the park.  The idea was to introduce children to the idea of outreach, and give them ownership of something that they could proudly invite friend, relatives and even strangers to.  The concept seems to have been successful, as many families showed up to outreach together, and visitors came to both the Fun Day and Play.  A similar scheme is on the tentative agenda for next summer.

The puppeteers were Kayla Beswick and Chelsea Oberlander, and the accompanying music was the Ten Commandments song by the Apologetics.

The play itself was a production of Big Band Press, whose original script did not need altering and who gave permission for its use by our children’s ministry.
